Sure, start off with the big bang of people off the ocean (was Ceph instructed to play bad cop?), but make it a one month suspension pending review, and make it clear that those with clean records so far do have a chance - just one chance - for amnesty, whilst accepting that mistakes can be made. That said, I'd like to suggest that any future mass bans of any kind be approached slightly differently. I'm glad that Cephalopod has been big enough to admit to erring in his coding - and I'm sure he's embarrassed! - but I do think that Liz did us a disservice when she merely reset stats in the previous notorious sweep of SF cheats. Re: Granting Amnesty to those who have Bilge-Botted? In closing, I just hope that at least some here concur with my opinion as it is extremely frustrating to me to see this recent change in events, and I think that it is irresponsible and should not be tolerated. The Department of BlackSpot was created to decrease the amount of cheaters in this game, even though I'm sure those who were banned were evading, but it is PROGRESS, and we can't be lenient to all of these people who are suddenly "apologetic" because they were caught :o It is illogical, and I am irate over this matter. You can just keep the millions that you modded away from people or the Seahorse or Karkinos that you "won" in Atlantis. Why don't they just let every "sympathetic" person who has ever been banned back? "Oh, we'll just reset your SF/Bilge stat, it's all good.
I ask you fellow pirates, why is the Bilge-Bot any different than the myriad of Speed Hackers and other modification bannings that have been done throughout the years? Why are they being un-banned yet OOO enacted a zero-tolerance policy against everyone else. It makes no logical sense to see that they won't do something like this again in the future this is human NATURE we're talking about. I think that the un-banning of those who have sent in sympathetic and apologetic admissions of using the Bilge-Bot is simply and utterly wrong. I thought that OOO was trying to take a pro-active stance on this entire Bilge-Botting matter and wasn't going to be lenient unless they had made an error.

Yet somehow, by some grace, they were un-banned, back on and ready to go! I inquired as to what their scenario was and I got a, "Yup ) was dumb enough to just install it and test how it worked on my main )."Ĭome on now, that is the BIGGEST joke I have ever seen. I was just playing online a few minutes ago when all of a sudden I saw a certain pirate who had been on Sage's "shunned list of bilge-botters." However, it was someone who hadn't had a faulty ban and clearly had at least attempted Botting. Granting Amnesty to those who have Bilge-Botted?
